Dr. Katelyn Evenson-Woodard

Dr. Katelyn Evenson-Woodard (Dr. Kate) joined our team at Cary Veterinary Hospital as an associate veterinarian in late August 2023.

Becoming a veterinarian has always been her lifelong passion. Nearly as soon as she could walk, she began trying to care for animals, helping her grandfather feed his cattle at just 2 years old. She grew up with three goldfish, two dwarf hamsters, a mouse, a cockatiel, a tortoise, five rabbits and two dogs, which only furthered her desire to care for animals and the people who love them.

Originally from a small rural town called Houston, Minnesota, Dr. Evenson-Woodard graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa as an undergrad in 2016 completing a bachelor’s degree in biology. She continued her journey towards becoming a veterinarian by working in a vet hospital as a veterinary assistant for a few years to gain even more experience. She completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine with a clinical year at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with High Honors (magna cum laude) in spring 2023.

Dr. Evenson-Woodard is overjoyed at the opportunity to be able to use her knowledge and skills to care for pets and their families in order to improve their overall quality of life. It is her mission to help educate owners, pursue excellent communication, and provide exceptional medicine to give our pets happier, healthier, and longer lives.

In her free time, Dr. Evenson-Woodard loves to play piano, which she used to do competitively in her teenage years. She also enjoys spending time with her 2 cats named Felix and Arwyn, who were named from some of her favorite books (Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings). She thoroughly enjoys outdoors activities such as: hiking in the mountains, very long bike rides, and visiting the beach with her husband Evan. She also loves to travel the world and learn new things, as she considers herself a life-long learner.

Dr. Evenson-Woodard truly gives everything she can to each and every one of her patients, as she considers all her fur patients and their families an important part of her life. She is eager to investigate illnesses, promote prevention, and lengthen lives to the very best of her ability. Please feel free to schedule an appointment with her today, as she is incredibly excited to get to know you and your pets!
