Dr. Juliane Evans was born in Hershey, PA, the “sweetest place on Earth” and isn’t tired of chocolate yet! Dr. Evans didn’t always know veterinary medicine was her calling, although several family members were already in the field. She spent some time working in the human and plant health field before realizing animal health was the perfect place for her. She earned her BS in Biology from Messiah College and worked as a health physics technician, histopathology technician, and nursing assistant before going on to earn a MS in Plant Pathology at Washington State University and then attending the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Evans believes these opportunities helped her to appreciate the “One Health” initiative and it is why one of her main goals as a veterinarian is to improve community well-being through providing compassionate animal health care. Dr. Evans' favorite part of being a veterinarian is providing care to improve the quality of life of the pet and their family, as well as establishing and building relationships with pets and their families.
Dr. Evans has also graduated from the Chi Institute in 2016 to be fully certified in veterinary acupuncture for small and large animals and just this past year she reached Fear Free Level 3 status. She finds it fulfilling and rewarding to improve difficult and sometimes painful situations, whether it be from aging changes like arthritis or progressive dental disease, and using an integrative approach has offered her more tools to do so.
In her free time, Dr. Evans enjoys running, horseback riding, gardening, hiking, biking, photography, reading, and spending time with her husband Jared and their 2 children, a young son and daughter. Rounding out the family is Piper - a lab mix originally from SC who loves agility, dock diving, and fly ball, as well as 2 cats - Penelope and Eleanor.
Dr. Evans is excited to join the Cary Vet family and build relationships within the community through providing compassionate and caring health care to pets.
