Dr. Arynn O’Kane joined the Cary Veterinary Hospital team as a veterinarian in June 2021 but is a familiar face to us, having spent several years working as a veterinary assistant here during breaks from vet school at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.
Born in Myrtle Beach, SC but moved from place to place growing up, living in 7 different states throughout her life but is happy to call Cary, NC home! She’s wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 10 years old. She always loved animals but hadn’t thought of it as a career until a family friend asked if she dreamed of being one, and it was like a lightbulb went off in her head!
Dr. O’Kane graduated from Virginia Tech in 2017 with a degree in Animal science with an emphasis in companion animals, and then graduated from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, specializing in small animal medicine in 2021.
Dr. O’Kane is excited to engage with her patients and clients and build lasting relationships! Her areas of interest are dentistry, animal behavior, and cardiology.
When Dr. O’Kane is not working she enjoys painting, being outside (hiking, biking, etc) and relaxing with a good book. She also loves traveling, especially internationally! Her favorite trip was backpacking through Ireland for 2 weeks. She has two loving parents that also live in Cary with their two family dogs, a golden retriever puppy, Finnegan, and sheltie puppy, Cayla.
